WICHITA, Kan., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Kansas Speaker of the House Mike O'Neal has issued an apology for an e-mail he forwarded that referred to first lady Michelle Obama as "Mrs. Yomama."

The Republican state lawmaker said he did not read the e-mail thoroughly and didn't see the comments after a cartoon that compared Obama's hair to the Grinch's, KSN-TV, Wichita, Kan., reported.

"Cartoons are intended to be humorous," O'Neal said. "This one made me laugh -- I've had bad hair days, too. I forwarded it too quickly missing the text included in the body of the e-mail. To those I have offended, I am sorry. That was not at all my intent."

O'Neal did not make the "Mrs. Yomama" comment, but he did forward it to several colleagues.
