Police officer fired for kid porn request

CINCINNATI, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- A Cincinnati police officer fired for asking a prostitute for child pornography says he was investigating a tip about a child sex ring, records say.

Jeremy Robison, 27, of Coleraine was dismissed in October after a 7-month investigation, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. He is appealing his firing with the support of his union.

Robison did not have permission to run an independent investigation, police records obtained by the newspaper said. He did tell some colleagues that was what he was doing but did not take their advice to go to superiors.

A prostitute told another police officer in February that Robison had asked her several times for pornography with "a couple of little girls." She said he came back to her several times with the same request even though she repeatedly told him she had no access to child pornography.

Robison had been with the department for less than four years when he was fired. His personnel records say he was disciplined 17 times, the newspaper reported.
