SAN ANTONIO, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has released a picture of an Arizona baby who vanished in 2009 as he might look at the age of 2.

Bob Lowery, a spokesman for the center, said the group releases images of missing children until they are found or determined to be dead, the San Antonio Express-News reported. He said the pictures are created and released every two years until the missing children turn 21 and then every five years.

"We do not give up looking for children, even under the most dire circumstances," Lowery said. "We don't give up hope."

Gabriel Johnson, nicknamed Baby Gabriel, was 8 months old when he disappeared. His mother had taken him to Texas and he was last seen in San Antonio on Dec. 26, 2009.

Elizabeth Johnson first said she had killed her son and dumped his body in a trash can and later that she had given him to a woman she met in a park. She has been charged in Arizona with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit custodial interference.
