Myers was charged with killing East Washington police officer John David Dryer during a shootout Sunday night. Dryer and his partner, officer Robert V. Caldwell III, pulled Myers over for a traffic violation. Caldwell was injured in the incident as well.

After allegedly shooting the officers, Myers left the scene and barricaded himself inside his house, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Myers, who neighbors say had an arsenal of firearms, was located by police early Monday.

Neighbors said they heard sporadic gunfire coming from Myers' house, culminating in the gunfight at 9 a.m.

"It's horrible that at a traffic stop something like this could happen," said Desiree Morrell, 35, who lives near the East Washington police station. "It isn't something you think would happen in this area."
