Sisters of slain 7-year-old returned home

CANTON, Ohio, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- The two younger sisters of a slain 7-year-old Georgia girl will be returned to their family, an attorney said Thursday.

"They're going home with their parents," attorney John Connolly said outside a Cherokee County courtroom. "The family is very pleased."

The girls have been in state custody since Saturday, the day after Jorelys disappeared from their apartment complex in Canton. Jorelys' body was found Monday in a trash bin at the complex and police arrested suspect Ryan Brunn Wednesday, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Brunn allegedly kidnapped Jorelys, took her to an empty apartment where she was raped, beaten and stabbed, and then hid her body in a Dumpster, authorities said.

Connolly, who represents the girls' father, said the decision to return the children to their family was the result of a long discussion involving both parents.

"We're trying to protect their privacy," Connolly said. "The mother and father are working together."
