NEW YORK, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- A group of Fordham University law students have set up a clinic to provide the birth control they say they cannot get on the Catholic school's New York campus.
Bridgette Dunlap of Fordham Law Students for Reproductive Justice said she thinks the school's policy is unfair. Its insurance includes a $100 deductible "per condition" for students who go to off-campus doctors.
"Our insurance is required by law to cover birth control but students have to travel off campus to Planned Parenthood or other doctors to receive a prescription," she said.
A Fordham spokesman, Bob Howe, said in an e-mail that the school's policy is in line with "church teachings."
Some students do not have a problem with the school's policy.
"I knew what I was getting into matriculating in a Catholic school," Frances Martell, a second-year law student, told the News.
