Witnesses said the shooting broke out while Kafani, an Oakland rapper, was shooting a music video. They described a van with advertising for his music being hit several times.

The van was later spotted parked at Highland Hospital and was reported to have been used to drive some of the shooting victims to the hospital. The baby was at Children's Hospital, police said.

As of 10 p.m. PST, about 4 hours after the shooting, no arrests had been made, police said. Investigators were trying to determine what sparked the shooting spree.
