VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Nov. 28 (UPI) -- A convicted bigamist was found dead of a suspected drug overdose in Virginia Beach, Va., police say.

Issac C. Custalow Jr., 41, was pronounced dead early Saturday, just three days before he was to be sentenced for marrying multiple wives, the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch reported.

Custalow was discovered in the apartment of his latest wife, Shannon Denton, said Jolynn Nassar, Denton's mother.

Nassar said Custalow had been staying with Denton since he was released from jail on bail 10 days ago. Denton checked on Custalow about 11:45 p.m. Friday and discovered he was not breathing and emergency responders were unable to resuscitate him.

Nassar said Virginia Beach police Detective J.S. Allen told her Custalow "overdosed on drugs."

Investigators found morphine patches at the scene, which Custalow used to treat back pain, she said.

"He was putting them in his mouth to get high," Nassar said.

Custalow was to be sentenced Tuesday on bigamy charges to which he had pleaded guilty in April. Prosecutors said the man married four women in 11 years without getting divorced in between.

"Obviously it's pretty shocking," said Wendy Custalow, Issac Custalow's first wife.
