WASHINGTON, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Windy and rainy storm systems made for road and flight delays Sunday as millions of Americans wound down the Thanksgiving holiday.
Rain was forecast from the lower Mississippi Valley to eastern Tennessee and another crossover storm system from the Ohio valley to the Gulf Coast was in line to make travel troublesome, CNN reported.
The Triple-A motor club estimated more than 42 million people would be on the road for the Thanksgiving Day period that began Thursday, while the Air Transport Association of America estimated more than 23 million people would be taking holiday-related flights.
On Continental Airline's Web site early Sunday, the carrier warned weather could create delays in flights in and out of Houston, Chicago and Minneapolis.
