Police search park for signs of toddler

KIRKLAND, Wash., Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Investigators say several items of interest were found while searching a Kirkland, Wash., park for evidence in the case of missing toddler Sky Metalwala.

The boy has been missing since Nov. 6. when his mother told police the 2-year-old disappeared while she walked to get gas for her car.

Carla Iafrate of the Bellevue Police Department said the items, which have been sent to a crime lab for analysis, were found Saturday during a search of Watershed Park, KOMO-TV, Seattle, reported.

Bellevue police released a series of photos from store surveillance cameras showing Sky's mother, Julia Biryukova, 30, of Redmond, Wash., and her son in the hours and days leading up to his disappearance.

Biryukova told police the boy disappeared after she left him sleeping alone in her unlocked car, which she said was stalled along the side of a road, while she walked to get gas in Bellevue.
