19-year-old sentenced in Carnival assault

MOBILE, Ala., Nov. 17 (UPI) -- A Mississippi man described by a judge as a serial rapist was sentenced to 10 years in prison for abusing a 13-year-old girl on a cruise ship, prosecutors said.

Dylan Cole Bloodsworth, 19, of Gautier, Miss., pleaded guilty to federal charges of having sex with a 13-year-old girl he had met in March while aboard the Carnival cruise ship Elation. He faces charges in Mississippi for forcing a different 13-year-old girl to have sex with him shortly before the cruise ship assault, the (Mobile, Ala.,) Press-Register reported.

Bloodsworth allegedly met the girl in the state case online, went to her house uninvited and tried to kiss her. He later called the girl after midnight and threatened to kill her and family if she did not go with him to an isolated spot, where he allegedly forced her to have sex, court documents said.

In the cruise ship case, Bloodsworth allegedly convinced the girl to go back to his cabin for a coat, where he forced her to have sex.

Calling Bloodsworth "a serial rapist" who preys on underage girls, U.S. District Judge William Steele ordered that Bloodsworth spend the rest of his life under supervision by the U.S. Probation Office.

Bloodsworth apologized in court Tuesday. "I know what I did was wrong," he told the judge. "And I want to make things right."
