SEAL BEACH, Calif., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A second wrongful death suit was filed against the man accused in the shooting at a Seal Beach, Calif., beauty salon that killed eight people, records show.
The lawsuit was filed Monday by the husband and three children of Christy Lynn Wilson, seeking compensation from Scott Dekraai, whom prosecutors alleged opened fire on his ex-wife Michelle Fournier at the salon after a long and vicious custody battle over their son.
Fornier was styling Wilson's hair when both were shot.
Dekraai has been charged with eight counts of murder.
Fournier's parents filed a wrongful-death suit against Dekraai last week, in part seeking money to help raise the 8-year-old at the center of the custody dispute, the Orange Country (Calif.) Register reported Tuesday.
Wilson's family, in their lawsuit, is seeking payment for her hospital and funeral expenses.
Lawyers for both families said Dekraai has assets, including his home, some property and a disability income, that could be a part of any judgments against him.
