NEW YORK, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Author Chuck Pfarrer, a former U.S. Navy SEALs commander, says Osama bin Laden died within 90 seconds after SEAL Team Six began a raid on his Pakistan hideout.

Pfarrer's account, which he says came from several men involved in the May attack on the al-Qaida leader's compound, contradicts the official government account that says bin Laden was killed in a 45-minute firefight, The Daily Telegraph (Britain) reported Friday.

"Bin Laden was dead within 90 seconds of the beginning of the raid, not after an extended firefight," Pfrarrer said in a statement. "Four suppressed rounds were fired."

His new book "SEAL Target Geronimo: The Inside Story on the Mission to Kill Osama Bin Laden" will be released Nov. 8.

Pfarrer said the SEALs entered the building after being deposited on the roof by the lead helicopter in the raid, not from the ground, as official accounts indicated.

Two graphic novels also recount the mission: "Code Word: Geronimo" by retired Marine Capt. Dale Dyle and his wife Julia Dye was released last month, and "Killing Geronimo: The Hunt for Osama bin Laden," by Jerome Maida and Darren G. Davis is scheduled for release next April, CNN said.
