Video seems to show judge beating daughter

ROCKPORT, Texas, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Police are investigating a video shot in 2004 allegedly showing a Texas judge and his wife abusing their disabled teenage daughter.

A woman claiming to be the victim, Hillary Adams, posted the video online Tuesday and said she was recently harassed by her father, Aransas County, Texas Court-At-Law Judge William Adams, CNN reported Wednesday.

A person identifying herself as Hillary Adams on Twitter said she was beaten with a belt and emotionally abused in the video after she used the Internet to illegally download music and games when she was 16 years old.

She was born with ataxic cerebral palsy and says her disability gave her a passion for technology.

"I'm not sure how much I should say, except that above all we need to help my father instead of condemning him," she said on Twitter.

William Adams said in an interview on KRIS-TV, Corpus Christi, his actions were "not as bad as it looks on tape."

"It happened years ago ... I apologized," he said.

The video is under review by police in Rockport, where William Adams' office is located.

"The first step is determining the authenticity of the video," Rockport Police Chief Tim Jayroe told CNN. "It's a matter of needing to verify the information and that the video is accurate."
