Deputies said they searched the student when he arrived at school and found a 24-inch machete concealed in the back of his pants.

A search of another student's backpack uncovered a meat cleaver and two folding knives, deputies said.

The school was locked down until about 11 a.m.

Deputies said there has been "ongoing tension" between two school groups and that there had been confrontations between them at a football game Oct. 28, The Kitsap Sun reported.
