Army sgt. in court for civilian killings

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- A court-martial case against U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Calvin R. Gibbs, accused of killing unarmed Afghan civilians, is set to begin in Washington.

Gibbs is also accused of hoarding body parts and covering up the killings, The Washington Post reported Thursday. His attorney says he is innocent because the killings were combat-related.
