Reid: Senate vote Friday on $35B jobs bill

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Wednesday the U.S. Senate will vote by Friday on a $35 billion jobs bill.

"We're going to make sure there's a vote on our bill this week," The Hill reported Reid as saying.

The $35 billion bill, which would be paid for by a 0.5 percent tax increase on incomes above $1 million, and would provide funds to states to avoid laying off police officers, firefighters and teachers.
