Guilty plea in drinking-game child death

JOPLIN, Mo., Oct. 18 (UPI) -- A Missouri woman has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the drinking-game alcohol poisoning of an 11-year-old boy.

The trial of Linda Petrait, 29, of Joplin, on second-degree murder and first-degree child endangerment charges in the death of Tyler J. Fecko was set to begin Tuesday when she changed her pleas on both charges to guilty, The Joplin (Mo.) Globe reported.

Her deal with the Jasper County prosecutor's office would limit the prison time on the murder conviction to 13 years and five years for the other conviction.

Petrait, the girlfriend of Fecko's uncle, Dale G. Phillips, 29, was accused of playing a drinking game with the boy that caused his death.

Phillips is also facing charges of second-degree murder and first-degree child endangerment in a case that remains pending, the Globe reported.
