Obama chief of staff sets 2012 departure

WASHINGTON, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- White House Chief of Staff William Daley says he will leave the Obama administration following the 2012 election.

Daley said in an interview with Chicago's WMAQ-TV this week that working for the president has been "a great honor."

"He's a terrific guy to work with and work for. He's a really good person," Daley said.

But when asked what his plans for the future are, he replied he is "trying to get through" his commitment to the president through the coming election.

"And then my wife and I will be back in Chicago," he said, adding he hasn't given any thought to his future beyond that.

The Washington Post reported some unidentified White House officials have said Daley does not particularly relish the political battles inside the Beltway. Daley was brought in to Obama's inner circle, in part, to shore up relations between the president and the business community, the newspaper said.
