MIAMI, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Tropical Storm Philippe could become a hurricane before heading out to sea, the National Center in Miami, Fla., said Wednesday.

The storm, located about 580 miles southeast of Bermuda at 4 a.m. EST Wednesday, was moving northwest at 6 mph. Maximum sustained winds were 65 mph.

There were no coastal watches or warnings in effect. The National Weather Service said Philippe was expected to turn toward the northeast and increase speed by late Thursday. With some strengthening, Philippe could become a hurricane by Friday, meteorologists said.
