WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- A speechwriter for President Barack Obama who has written words for him to deliver since he campaigned for president said he's left the administration.
Adam Frankel, whose last day was Friday, is leaving the White House to become executive director of Digital Promise, a new non-profit group that promotes use of technology to strengthen education, the Los Angeles Times reported.
"I worked with the president on a lot of his education speeches,'' Frankel said Friday. "So I was thinking about what I want to do and I realized that I wanted to see if I could have some kind of impact in education.''
Frankel, 30, was one of the original members of the team that worked on Obama speeches through the 2008 Democratic primaries when Obama defeated Hillary Clinton.
Frankel's specialty was speeches involving morality and history, and he was often chosen when Obama was to give a eulogy, the Times said.
His speeches include one Obama delivered in West Virginia last year commemorating the deaths of 29 coal miners killed in an explosion.
"Most days, they would emerge from the dark mine, squinting at the light,'' Obama said in the speech. "Most days, they would emerge, sweaty, dirty, dusted with coal. Most days, they would come home. Most days, but not that day."
Frankel said he eventually wants to write a book about his family. His grandparents on one side were Holocaust survivors, and his grandfather on the other side fought in World War II.
