Celina Cass' mother seeking answers in death

WEST STEWARTSTOWN, N.H., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- The mother of an 11-year-old New Hampshire girl whose body was found in the Connecticut River last month said she is desperate to know what happened.

Celina Cass was reported missing in July and her body was found Aug. 1. Her mother, Louisa Cass, said she and the girl's stepfather, Wendell Noyes, put her to bed in their West Stewartstown, N.H., home the night of July 25 and the next morning she was gone.

Investigators are still waiting for toxicology reports to come back. No arrests have been made.

In an interview with WMUR-TV, Manchester, N.H., Louisa Cass said she needs to know, "Why would someone do what they did? She didn't deserve it. She didn't do anything to anyone."

Cass said she visits the cemetery every week.

"I talk to her. I want her to come and tell me what happened so we know," she said.

Cass said she separated from her husband shortly after Celina's body was found. Noyes is being treated in Berlin, N.H., after suffering a mental breakdown, his mother, Eunice Richards, told WMUR.

Police have not named a suspect in their investigation.
