SANTA ANA, Calif., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- A California woman was charged with murder Wednesday after her baby died of injuries suffered when she allegedly pushed him from a hospital parking garage.
An amended complaint filed by the Orange County District Attorney's office charged Sonia Hermosillo, 31, of La Habra with murder and assault on a child in the death of her 7-month-old son, identified in court documents as Baby Noe.
Hermosillo allegedly pushed her child from the fourth floor of the parking structure at Children's Hospital of Orange County on Monday. Witnesses said she then went inside to have her parking ticket validated before driving off, prosecutors said in a written statement.
Baby Noe, who died Wednesday, suffered from an unspecified health issue that required him to wear a helmet and undergo regular medical treatments. Hermosillo allegedly removed the headgear before pushing the infant over the side.
Hermosillo, who is married and has two other kids, was initially arraigned on attempted murder and assault charges and ordered held on $1 million bail Wednesday but will be re-arraigned on the upgraded charges Thursday.
