INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Indiana officials say a search for a missing college student may move to a landfill that receives trash from Bloomington, where the missing woman was last seen.
The company owning the Vigo County landfill says it is cooperating with the FBI in the search for Indiana University student Lauren Spierer, missing since June 3, The Indianapolis Star reported Wednesday.
"We own the landfill, and the FBI wants to search it," Peg Mulloy, spokeswoman for Republic Services, said. "They know why they're searching, and they're going to determine when they're going to start searching."
Republic Services has been talking to the FBI for the past two to three weeks and has provided the agency with the blueprint of the landfill to help in the search, Mulloy said.
The landfill is the destination for trash from Bloomington, location of the university's main campus, where Spierer was last seen in the early morning hours of June 3.
