SAND POINT, Alaska, July 16 (UPI) -- A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Aleutian Islands region Saturday, seismic monitors said.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the temblor was recorded at noon local time at a depth of 30 miles.

The quake was centered 43 miles southwest of Sand Point, Alaska, 60 miles east-southeast of Cold Bay, Alaska, and 603 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska.
The USGS didn't issue a tsunami warning.
