Casey Anthony trial adjourned for the day

ORLANDO, Fla., June 20 (UPI) -- The judge in the Casey Anthony trial in Florida admonished both state and defense attorneys for delays, then abruptly adjourned the day's session Monday.

Anthony, 25, is on trial on a first-degree murder charge in the 2008 death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, whose skeletal remains were found in December of that year.

An infuriated Chief Judge Belvin Perry warned both the defense and prosecution that he was getting fed up with the delays during the trial.

But Perry adjourned court without giving an explanation, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

"By joint stipulation, we are in recess until 9 a.m." [Tuesday], Perry said at about 11 a.m.

Perry called for the adjournment after prosecutor Jeff Ashton announced he intended to call for new sanctions against the defense and attorney Jose Baez for failing to disclose information about what defense witnesses will testify about.

Perry repeated concerns about lawyers "continuously" violating his orders.

"Yes there has been gamesmanship in this particular case. It is quite evident there is a friction between attorneys," Perry said.

Perry said he is bothered by the delays will have the attorneys work a full day on Saturday and perhaps make them come in early during weekdays.

"I'm getting very, very close to starting this proceeding every morning at 8:30," Perry said. "All of this, folks, is going to stop or you will be working some very fierce days."
