COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 9 (UPI) -- A former Minnesota resident was arrested in Ohio Thursday on charges of supplying money and other support to the al-Shabaab terror group, officials said.
Ahmed Hussein Mahamud, 26, formerly of Eden Prairie, Minn., is the 20th person of Somali descent charged in Minnesota for allegedly providing aid to al-Shabaab, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
Mahamud was arrested in Columbus, Ohio, and made his initial court appearance in federal court for the Southern District of Ohio, the newspaper said.
Eight of 20 men charged with supporting the terror group have been arrested in the United States and abroad, federal officials said.
