Police search for missing Indiana student

INDIANAPOLIS, June 8 (UPI) -- Indiana police say they used a battering ram to gain access to a security room at an apartment complex in their search for a missing Indiana University student.

Police served a search warrant at the Bloomington apartment complex where Lauren Spierer lived, WISH-TV, Indianapolis, reported Wednesday.

Spierer, 20, was last seen early Friday morning as she left a friend's apartment and started walking home, police said.

When officers serving the search warrant could not get anyone at the apartment to let them into the security room they used the battering ram to gain entrance and then seized three computer hard drives.

Police would not say why they took possession of the drives, WISH-TV reported.

Investigators say they have few leads and no suspects in the disappearance of the IU student that has sparked a massive search and social media efforts to find her but believe foul play is involved.
