HARRISBURG, Pa., June 7 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania judge could lose his job for handing out acorns that had been hollowed out and stuffed with condoms to state employees.
Isaac H. Stoltzfus, a district judge in Intercourse, Pa., distributed the acorns in September while he was attending a continuing education seminar in Harrisburg, the state capital, the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era reported Monday. The Judicial Conduct Board has filed a complaint saying he brought "disrepute" on his office.
Police ticketed him for disorderly conduct but then decided he broke no laws. Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico described the judge's actions in October as "bizarre but not necessarily illegal."
Stoltzfus told the board he has handed out thousands of the stuffed acorns in his courtroom. He said he does it to dramatize the role condoms play in preventing unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease.
