ORLANDO, Fla., June 7 (UPI) -- Four more anti-poverty activists have been arrested in Orlando, Fla., for violating an ordinance on feeding the homeless in public parks, police said.
The four people arrested were all members of the group Orlando Food No Bombs, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Tuesday.
They were apprehended just as they finished distributing pancakes and donuts to more than 30 people at Lake Eola Park Monday morning.
Under the ordinance, groups must have a permit to feed the homeless and are only allowed two permits per year for each park.
"Free speech two times a year? That's what the ordinance says," said Brock Monroe, 20, just before police handcuffed him. "I believe in liberty, so I will get arrested if I have to."
Others arrested with Monroe were identified as Noelle Bivens, 40, Stephen Willis, 23, and Dylan Howeller, 21.
Despite their arrests, members of the group said they would return to the park Wednesday to distribute more food, the newspaper said.
Bivens said one in six central Floridians is on food stamps.
