Stunt leaves man in critical condition

SANTA CLARITA, Calif., May 22 (UPI) -- A dangerous skateboarding stunt left one man in the hospital and one man in jail in Santa Clarita, Calif., authorities say.

Edward Culhane, 35, fell off his skateboard while "hot-boarding," a stunt where a skateboard rider holds onto the back end of a moving car. He sustained serious head injuries, the Los Angeles Times reported. He was in critical condition at Henry Mayo Newhall Medical Center Sunday after the fall.

The car's driver, Ryan Howell, 33, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.

There was another serious hot-boarding accident in April that left two men injured, including one left in critical condition after he let go of the moving car, the newspaper said.
