Teens injured in fall from 'Zipper' ride

BATON ROUGE, La., May 16 (UPI) -- A Baton Rouge, La., amusement park ride started up before a sister and brother got off, throwing them to the ground and seriously injuring them, officials said.

The girl, 15, and boy, 13, were exiting a ride called the "Zipper" when it started up again, The (Baton Rouge) Advocate reported.

The teens were seriously injured but will recover, officials said.

Investigators said they were trying to find out why the ride started up again.

Members of the St. Helena Parish School Board were trying to find out who authorized the company that owns the ride to set it up on school property without board authorization.

"It didn't come through the full board and everybody's pretty upset over it," said board member Alton Travis. "Whoever OKd this is out of line."
