Long Island may have 2nd serial killer

NEW YORK, May 10 (UPI) -- Investigators in New York said it is possible that more than one serial killer may have been dumping victims on Jones Beach Island in Suffolk County.

Since December, the remains of eight people have been discovered along Ocean Parkway in the Suffolk County portion of Jones Beach Island, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

Two of the more recent cases appear to be related to each other but not to the four prostitutes whose bodies were found at nearby Gilgo Beach in December, officials revealed.

A county official said Monday while the "manner of disposal" of the two latest victims was similar, it was "distinctly dissimilar to the four originally identified Gilgo victims."

"It is now very clear that the area in and around Gilgo Beach has been used to discard human remains for some period of time," said Thomas Spota, Suffolk County district attorney.
