Motorcycle crash kills Tennessee trooper

NASHVILLE, May 8 (UPI) -- A Tennessee state trooper was killed in a motorcycle collision while on duty, the Highway Patrol said.

Troopers Andy Wall and Buddy Head were riding their motorcycles in front of Stonecrest Hospital in Smyrna, escorting U.S. Air Force Thunderbird pilots to an air show, when the three-vehicle crash occurred just before 2 p.m. Saturday, the agency said.

Hall was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died. Head was treated and released for minor injuries, and no civilians were hurt.

The Highway Patrol said it is investigating the accident and gave no further details.

Wall, 36, served in the THP's Nashville District, primarily out of Dickson County, where his father, Tom Wall, is a former sheriff.

Wall leaves his parents, a sister, and girlfriend.
