Rumors of iPhone 6 already flying

NEW YORK, April 29 (UPI) -- After the introduction of Apple's iPhone 4 and the rumored release of an iPhone 5 in September, tech experts have begun speculating about an iPhone 6.

First off, it may or may not be called the iPhone 6. Apple hasn't always stuck to chronological names in the past, and the fact there was never an "iPhone 2" means a "6" phone name isn't necessarily a done deal, CNN reported.

A release date? Apple observers say 2012 would be logical, since there's been a new model every year since the first iPhone release in 2007.

And while some smartphones, Android phones especially, are getting bigger to allow bigger screens for watching video, rumors say the iPhone 6 is follow Apple's thinner and lighter mantra.

One Apple insider seemed to confirm that, saying, "The liquid crystal display on the anticipated 'iPhone 6' is said to feature 'low-temperature poly-silicon' technology, a next-generation display format that allows for thinner and lighter screens that consume less power than traditional LCD screens."

So that's the iPhone 6 -- until the next batch of rumors, of course.
