4 die in California pickup crash

LA HABRA, Calif., April 17 (UPI) -- Four young people died and two were injured in Southern California early Sunday when their pickup crashed into a tree, police said.

The driver lost control of the Chevrolet Colorado at 1:09 a.m., La Habra Police Sgt. Jeff Baylos told the Orange County (Calif.) Register.

A 25-year-old man, a 22-year-old man, a 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene. One of them was the driver.

The victims' names are being withheld for family notification, Baylos said.

Two women, ages 21 and 25, were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, one of them by helicopter. Their injuries were not life-threatening, the report said.

All occupants seem to have been riding in the truck's cab..

"Alcohol could have been a factor, but we will not know until we get back the toxicology reports," Baylos said.
