KKK fliers distributed in Ohio

CANTON, Ohio, April 13 (UPI) -- Police are trying to track the people who distributed fliers advertising the Ku Klux Klan in neighborhoods on the edge of Canton, Ohio.

Chief Stark County Sheriff's Deputy Rick Perez said the fliers amounted to help-wanted ads for an organization using the name United Northern & Southern Nights of the Ku Klux Klan, the Canton Repository reported. The national office was listed in Fraser, Mich.

"There was no direct threat or anything like that," Perez said. "We'd still like to find out who's putting them out."

The fliers, distributed in plastic freezer bags weighted down with marbles, show a Klansman carrying a cross and a Bible. There are different messages on some of the fliers with one saying, "Only you can help save our white culture!" and another, "We are looking for white, Christian men and women that have the same beliefs in God-race-nation."

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms reports the Northern and Southern Knights split off from the Mystic Knights, an Ohio-based KKK group.
