MIAMI, April 6 (UPI) -- A widow charged in the slaying of her husband, the heir to Miami's famed Fountainebleu hotel, now also has been charged in his mother's killing.

An indictment accuses Narcy Novack, 54, and her brother, Cristobal Veliz, 57, of masterminding the murders of Fountainebleu heir Ben Novack Jr. and his mother for their money, The Miami Herald reported Wednesday.

Novack and Veliz are accused in the indictment of operating what amounted to a "criminal enterprise" aimed at killing Ben Novack for his money after first eliminating his mother, the designated executor of his estate.

Prosecutors said the plot began in 2009 when Narcy Novack and Veliz hired two people to break into Bernice Novack's Fort Lauderdale home and kill her.

Bernice Novack, 87, was found dead April 5, 2009 but her death was ruled an accident by the Broward County medical examiner.

Just as her son was beginning to become suspicious, he was killed at a hotel in Rye Brook, N.Y. on July 12.

The federal indictment charging Novack and Veliz was unsealed in New York state this week.
