Russian pays $100 million for U.S. mansion

LOS ALTOS HILLS, Calif., April 3 (UPI) -- Russian billionaire Yuri Milner has paid $100 million for a California mansion, which records reveal may be the most ever paid for a home in the United States.

The purchase price for the Los Altos Hills luxury home was calculated from the documentary transfer tax recorded with the Santa Clara County Assessor's Office, the San Jose Mercury News reported Sunday.

Milner is a venture capitalist who has invested heavily in Facebook, Zynga and Groupon through his firm DST Global.

John Brian Losh of the Seattle real estate Web site LuxuryRealEstate.com told the News "if it's not a record, it's damned close."

Susan Lowe of Chase International, who handles similar properties, said as far as she knows, the price tag is a U.S. record for a home.

"There was one that was land only, 40 acres in the Hamptons, that sold in 2007 for $103 million, but there was no house on it," she said.

The sellers were Fred and Annie Chan of Hawaii, the newspaper said.

The mansion includes two dining rooms, a ballroom, living room, game room, security room, a maid's room, an exercise room, a sauna and spa, an indoor pool, two three-car garages, a carwash and tennis courts.
