Johnson died at the scene and Davis was transported to the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester in critical condition.

Massachusetts State Trooper Michael Mayer said he was in the area of Route 2 when he saw the two men lying on the shoulder of the highway. Mayer called for backup and an ambulance, while the bus driver called in the incident at the same time, the newspaper said.

Police did not say how the men fell out of the window but said they believe alcohol was a contributing factor.
