Carnival Pride pulled free of Florida dock

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla., March 31 (UPI) -- A Carnival Cruise Lines ship was delayed Thursday when a strong gust of wind during a storm pulled it from a dock at Port Canaveral, Fla.

The Carnival Pride had been scheduled to leave at 7 p.m. Wednesday, USA Today reported, citing a statement from the cruise line. The vessel left 11 hours later.

Vance Gulliksen, a Canaveral spokesman, told the Orlando Sentinel no one was hurt during the incident at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, although some crew members and passengers were on board. Passengers who had left the boat were able to return when it was pulled back to the dock.

Because of the delay, the vessel's itinerary was changed, omitting a stop at Nassau in the Bahamas, followed by a call at Freeport on Friday. The Pride was rescheduled to arrive in Freeport at 4 p.m. Thursday, departing at 2 p.m. Friday.

The vessel is on a seven-day cruise from Baltimore.
