LOS ANGELES, March 30 (UPI) -- The Church of Scientology is in negotiations to buy the Los Angeles studio now used by KCET-TV, insiders tell the Los Angeles Times.
KCET split from PBS in January after a long-running dispute over its dues. The station, now the largest independent viewer-supported broadcaster in the country, has lost viewers and donors.

The property on Sunset Boulevard is assessed at $14.1 million. The Times said the deal was confirmed by KCET insiders and local real estate consultants who did not want to be quoted by name.
The Church of Scientology is headquartered in Clearwater, Fla. It was founded in Los Angeles in 1954 and is a major property owner in the region.
