Mother gets 20 years for online sex abuse

BANGOR, Maine, March 16 (UPI) -- A Maine woman is going to prison for 20 years for molesting her own 2-year-old daughter and showing it live online.

Julie Carr, 33, of Mars Hill, Maine, was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Bangor for production of child pornography, The Bangor Daily News reported.

Carr pleaded guilty in February 2010, admitting she sent a stranger in England four live videos of herself performing sex acts with the toddler.

The video chats occurred June 9-11, 2009, and were sent to Nicholas Wilde, now 20. He was already being investigated for child pornography when British authorities found the recordings that were traced to Carr.

Two days later, federal agents and state police searched Carr's home, and she claimed Wilde tricked her into the crime, court documents state.

Wilde was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison for "inciting a mother in the U.S. to abuse her own child" and distributing indecent images, the BBC reported last year.

Carr's three daughters and one son were removed from her custody after her arrest, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd Lowell. The victim was the youngest.
