Survivors describe chaos of N.J. bus crash

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J., March 15 (UPI) -- Survivors of a New Jersey bus crash described a scene of chaos as the bus rocked back and forth before hitting a concrete overpass support.

"It felt like we hit a ditch," Ashley Wilson, 21, of New York's Queens borough told The (Newark) Star-Ledger. "The bus started rocking. It felt like we were going to tumble over."

"I felt like my life flashed before my eyes."

The tour bus was southbound on the New Jersey Turnpike Monday night when it went off the left side of the road onto the grassy median and struck the overpass support.

The bus, operated by Super Luxury Tours Inc. of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., then traveled across the highway before veering into a drainage ditch on the right side of the highway, State Police Sgt. Stephen Jones said.

The crash killed driver Wei Wang, 50, of Forest Hills, N.Y., and passenger Troy Nguyen, 20, of Royersford, Pa., state police said.

The medical examiner's office said it would perform an autopsy to determine whether Wang suffered any medical issue before the crash.

Forty-one others were injured in the accident that occurred near East Brunswick.

"I heard people screaming, and then I blacked out," said Steven Mullahy, 20, also of Royersford. "When I woke up I was on the ground; someone had carried me out."

The accident occurred just two days after a private tour bus heading into New York City's Chinatown crashed on Interstate 95 in New York, killing 15 people.
