DETROIT, March 12 (UPI) -- A former Detroit school truck driver is accused of stealing computer equipment worth $70,000 from a warehouse.
Robert Williams committed the overnight theft in 2005, a federal indictment issued Thursday charges. With an accomplice, he loaded the gear into his school district truck and drove off, the charges state.
In a larger theft ring, 10 men were arrested last year on charges of stealing and selling 104 laptops worth more than $158,000, the Detroit Free Press reported.
Four people have pleaded guilty in that plot, including Dion Sims, a Michigan State football player.
Authorities say Williams used his access card to enter the warehouse yard Feb. 5, 2005. With a forklift, he moved several pallets of equipment from a computer room to the loading dock, the indictment says.
The accomplice was not named. Williams has not been arraigned, and his whereabouts were unknown.
