NORFOLK, Va., March 10 (UPI) -- A group of Somalis and a Yemeni captured after four Americans were killed during a pirate attack have been indicted in Norfolk, Va., authorities said.
The indictment filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court charges the 14 men with piracy, conspiracy to commit kidnapping and the use of firearms during a crime, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported
The group, held aboard the aircraft carrier Enterprise since the Feb. 22 attack on a yacht and the shooting deaths of the Americans, was handed over to the U.S. Justice Department Wednesday.
The 58-foot yacht Quest was attacked in the Arabian Sea. Four Navy ships responded and were conducting negotiations with the pirates when all four Americans were shot and killed.
The victims were the yacht's owners, Scott and Jean Adam of Los Angeles, and their friends Bob Riggle and Phyllis Macay of Seattle.
Following the shootings, Navy SEALs stormed the yacht and captured the 13 Somalis and the Yemeni.
