2nd man executed in Texas teen's death

HUNTSVILLE, Texas, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- A second man has been executed in Texas in the 1998 torture slaying of a 19-year-old mentally challenged woman, authorities said.

The Record in Bridge City reported Michael Wayne Hall, 31, was injected with a lethal dose of drugs Tuesday night after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to intervene.

The North Texas man had been convicted along with Robert Neville in the death of Amy Robinson of Arlington. Neville was put to death five years ago.

"I would like to give my sincere apology to Amy's family," The Record quoted Hall as saying while being strapped to the death chamber gurney. "We caused a lot of heartache, grief, pain and suffering, and I am sorry. I know it won't bring her back."

Robinson's two sisters and two of her friends were among the witnesses to Hall's execution, the newspaper said.

Authorities said Hall and Neville persuaded Robinson to get into their car as she walked to her job, then drove her to a remote spot in the Fort Worth area where they repeatedly shot her with a pellet rifle. They then shot her to death with a .22 caliber rifle.

Hall is the first person executed in Texas this year. Timothy Wayne Adams is to die next week for fatally shooting his 19-month-old son.
