NEW HAVEN, Conn., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Police in New Haven, Conn., say the same man has raped at least five young women in just over three years.
The most recent assault took place Jan. 17, the Hartford Courant reported. Police said DNA testing showed the same assailant was responsible for four earlier rapes, the first in December 2007.
One of the victims was a teenager and the others in their 20s, police said. All the women were walking by themselves when they were attacked.
In one case, police said the man had a gun and in at least two others told the victims he had one.
The attacker was described as being from 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 170 to 200 pounds with a light to medium complexion. The victim of the most recent rape said he was wearing blue jeans and an olive-colored puffy winter coat that may have been trimmed with fur.
