College cop accused of shooting escort

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- A Florida university policeman shot an escort he met online, authorities said.

Jimmy Dac Ho, a campus officer at Florida Atlantic University, Monday went to the Boynton Beach home of Sheri Carter, who advertised her services as "Stephanie," police told The Palm Beach Post.

By the end of the encounter, the woman was handcuffed by the officer and shot in the abdomen and neck.

Carter is in Delray Medical Center, paralyzed from the waist down.

Ho is in jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder and false imprisonment. He quit the FAU force, said Deputy Chief Keith Totten.

Carter texted her boyfriend at 4:21 p.m., saying her client was acting "weird and scary," police said.

When police found Ho, he "blurted that it was self-defense and that she struggled with him over the gun," the arrest report states.

Waiving his rights, Ho said he feared Carter was trying to rob him, police said.
