Man removes his feud-inspired Nazi flag

SACRAMENTO, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- A California man who had hung a flag with a swastika in his front window said he took it down despite his feud with his neighbors.

Joe Ongara of Sacramento, who had put up the Nazi-type flag to keep his next-door neighbors from being able to rent their house, removed it because he felt bad about taking police attention away from more serious issues in the neighborhood, The Sacramento Bee reported Monday.

"People should be spending their time and resources on that, not my feud with the neighbors," Ongaro, an electrical contractor, said about calls to police because of the neighborhood squabble.

Ongaro declined to say whether the flag has been taken down permanently, the Bee reported.

"I would love to say this is the end of it, but I'm not dealing with a sane person," said Jolane Davis, Ongaro's next-door neighbor.

The relationship between the neighbors began to deteriorate in 2006 when Davis and her husband Chet remodeled their home, the newspaper said.
